Your Typical Gay Guy

Hey everyone!  I am starting this blog in hopes that by writing this down, I will have a better grasp of what I consider to be my own problems.  Also, I know I love to read about other people's lives, so I hope that I will provide that to someone else.  The best case scenario is that a person reading this blog with some preconceived opinions about gay people will be enlightened by this, as I really believe I am your typical gay person.
Your stereotypical gay guy.
I feel as though I should say, I have no idea if Richard Simmons is actually gay or not, nor do I care.  I also know that this portrayal of your stereotypical gay guy is a little bit of an exaggeration, these days.

In all seriousness, this one is actually me.
Your real typical gay guy.

With this blog, I hope to start a conversation about the lives of your typical gay guy.  In the past years, doors have been opened for what you could call a stereotypical gay guy when it comes to social acceptance and their ability to be open about who they are.  I know that there are thousands of gay guys out there like me, and unfortunately windows into their lives are few and far between.

To start, here is a little background information about me.  The majority of my friends are straight men, followed by straight women, closely followed by gay women, and finally, I have very few gay male friends.  This is not on purpose, in fact, I would love to have a bigger circle of gay guys I love and trust.  In my free time I play video games, rock climb, read and cook.  I have little interest in professional sports and going to the gym, but I do love to sit around with friends and grab a beer just chat. Going out is fun, but if I had to choose, I would stay in with a few close friends and a bottle of wine.

I am currently seeing someone, and have been with him for 11 months.  Right now it is a long distance relationship, so certain problems are presenting themselves.  I hope to write a lot about this aspect of my life, and I would love to hear comments regarding it!  These posts should prove interesting in that my boyfriend and I are completely different, and I have no idea how it is going to turn out.  He likes to go out dancing, drinking, doesn't like being outside, and as I said, I would rather stay in with friends or be out rock climbing.

This is just an initial introduction, but I hope to be writing nearly every day.  Feel free to follow me and I will gladly do the same, as I love hearing about other people!  Thanks everyone, and I'm looking forward to writing more.
